Excerpt (in translation): "Although the excavations carried out to date have not revealed anything about this Gate and some historians have considered it "the great ghost", Professor Manuel Montero Vallejo, a specialist in Medieval Madrid, justifies the location of this plaque because, already in 1190, these houses are cited, 'portam de sacram in arravalde'. The portal is named after the "xagra region" to which it looked on various occasions during the Middle Ages....it was almost attached to the Alcázar and looked northeast, and near it was the Parish of San Miguel de la Xagra."(Submitted on June 8, 2022.)
