1. The Freight House Marker
Inscription. In October 1995, the Freight House was acquired by Kansas City Freight House LLC, for an adaptive reuse project. Construction of the up-scale urban restaurant, Lidia's, began in the spring of 1998 and was completed by the fall. As part of the rehabilitation project, the Freight House was once again remodeled and a pass-through was created to improve traffic circulation. In the spring of 2000 construction began on the final phase of the rehabilitation. Jack Stack Barbeque, the highest rated barbeque restaurant in the country, and the first Grand Central Oyster Bar and Restaurant outside New York's famed Grand Central Station, joined Lidia's in the fall of 2000.
