1. Mel Blount Marker
When Mel Blount entered the NFL in 1970 his physical stature set a new standard for the cornerback position. During his college career at Southern, Blount was twice named to the Southwestern Athletic Conference first team. During his junior season, he was named the SWAC's Most Valuable Player. He earned a selection to the Pro Scouts All-American team at both safety and cornerback. Drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round, Blount would produce a Hall of Fame career over 14 seasons. He is a four time Super Bowl Champion, three-time All-Pro and the 1977 Defensive MVP.
