1. URTX #31003 Marker
Inscription. This 50' mechanical refrigerator car was built in 1945 and used to haul hanging sides of meat from western markets. It is called "mechanical” because instead of ice, it used a refrigeration unit driven by a diesel motor. It houses displays of railroad tools, communication equipment and the Wheeling & Lake Erie RR. It was donated to us in 1976.
