1. Obion County Marker
Inscription. Water figures prominently in this “Land of Green Pastures”. The county that takes it’s name from the Obion River has the eastern and northern waters of 25,000 - acre Reelfoot Lake (10,000 acres of open water and 15,000 acres of swamp). Timber and furniture industries cleared the former Chickasaw land that now leads the state in overall agricultural production, specifically in corn, soybeans, wheat, apples, and peaches. David Crockett made his record season’s kill of 103 bears here.
