1. Crockett County Marker
Inscription. Crockett County was created in honor of and to perpetuate the memory of David Crockett, one of Tennessee's distinguished sons. Situated between forks of the Forked Deer River, the area was settled about 1824. The face of the county, when first viewed by these hardy pioneers, was most beautiful to behold. The woods stretched away into vast forests of poplar, hickory, oak and ash timber, while in the river and creek bottoms the cypress and and cane were seen.
