1. Weakley County Marker
Inscription. Colonel Robert Weakley was a prominent pioneer in Middle Tennessee and a member of Tennessee’s first legislature. The county’s rolling landscape, drained by the Obion River’s three forks, has long supported tobacco and cotton widely planted by the settlers. The transition from Chickasaw to white settlement was peaceful. Through the summer of 1820 Chickasaw hunted as they had before sharing the bounty of the land with the pioneers who also depended on it.
