1. David Stoops - Pioneer 1770-1854 Marker
Inscription. Arrived here in 1805 in company with Amos Butler. Landgrant for 160 acres at this site 1811. Acquired another 150 acres in 1817. Large cabin stood just south of this cemetery. During his first year, he cleared 11 acres of virgin forest, singlehanded. He was the father of 25 children whose descendants live throughout Indiana. Buried - Rutland, Indiana.
