1. George Washington's Whiskey Distillery Cornerstone Marker
Inscription. George Washington’s whiskey distillery was constructed between October 1797 and February 1798. This cornerstone for the recreated distillery was salvaged from the original United States Capitol and is the same Virginia sandstone that was used in the construction of the distillery. George Washington dedicated the Capitol on September 18, 1793. This cornerstone was laid on September 28, 2005.

Location. 38° 42.807′ N, 77° 7.777′ W. Marker is in Mount Vernon, Virginia, in Fairfax County. Marker can be reached from Mount Vernon Memorial Highway (Virginia Route 235) ¼ mile south of Richmond Highway (U.S. 1), on the left when traveling south. The marker is on the front left of the distillery building, close to the ground. Touch for map.
