James William Buffett, known to the entertainment world as Jimmy Buffett, was born in Pascagoula on December 25, 1946. He and his family lived at his location on Roosevelt Street. Jimmy spent his early years here before eventually moving to Mobile.
Buffett has numerous relatives in Pascagoula, and he has visited the city many times. After Hurricane Katrina he made significant contributions toward refurbishing the Pascagoula City Library.
Buffett's classic song, "The Pascagoula Run," Speaks to his many visits to his hometown and the adventures he had here.
Jimmy Buffett will always be the "Son of a Son of a Sailor" and proud son of Pascagoula.
Buffett's avid followers are known as Parrot Heads. A goodly number of them can be found locally.
