1. Humphreys County Marker
Inscription. The Tennessee River forms the western boundary of Humphreys County honoring Superior Court Judge Parry W. Humphreys. The county seat is named for the Sir Walter Scott Waverly novels and is situated typically close to the center of the county’s Prehistoric Mississippian era (900-1600 A.D.) earthworks are at Link Farm Stye Archeological Area near Hurricane Mills on the Duck River. Significant mounds are found here, as are numerous “stone box” burials.
