1. Giles County Marker
Inscription. Created from Indian lands, the hills and valleys of Giles honor Virginia Senator William B. Giles, a staunch advocate for Tennessee’s admission to the Union. Pulaski honors Revolutionary War hero, Polish Count Kazimierez Pulaski. It was the site of Confederate hero Sam Davis’ execution , birthplace of the Ku Klux Klan, and a headquarters of the Freedman’s Bureau that assisted freed slaves. The county was home to “Fugitive” writer John Crowe Randsom and candy mogul Franklin C . Mars 2,700 acre Milky Way farm.
