"The Store Where The Creatures Meet"
The Doors
— Canyon Country Store —
In 1968, The Canyon Country Store was immortalized as the "store where the creatures meet" in The Doors' #1 hit, "Love Street." The song was written about the characters who passed through the store, and lived on and around Rothdell Trail, where Doors lead singer Jim Morrison lived for a time with his girlfriend, Pam Courson.
"I see you live on Love Street, there's a store where the creatures meet, I wonder what they do in there, Summer Sunday, and a year..."
"Love Street" was released on The Doors #1 album Waiting for the Sun on July 3, 1968.
