1. Orient Fire House Marker
Inscription.
In 1879 Henry Greathouse, a local blacksmith, and his wife Matilda, leased this lot to Lebanon for a fire company Within a few years, the Orient Fire House was built for less than $2,000. The fire company fought its first blaze on September 20, 1883. All seven of Greathouse's sons once served as members of this horse drawn hand pumper company.

The company's hose was often hung from the fire house tower to dry. Deemed too small for motorized fire equipment, the fire station has been inactive since the 1930s. $14,000 was spent to renovate the building in 1985. This included restoring its round-arch bay doors. It was named the Orient Fire Company because it was in the "far east” end of Lebanon.

Erected by Lebanon Rotary Club.
