Inscription. Pulitzer Prize winner Clarence Daniel Batchelor enjoyed a lifelong career as a political cartoonist for publications such as the New York Post and the New York Daily News. He utilized wit and irony to interpret events on the national and world stage in cartoon form. Each cartoon conveyed a distinction point of view and a call to action regarding the issue being examined. Prolific in his work, Batchelor raised national awareness about such issues as women's suffrage, communism, public health and automobile safety.
