Walter "Big Train" Johnson grew from a farm boy into a Major League Baseball success. Following high school, Johnson pitched in the Idaho State League and signed with the Washington Nationals in 1907. His fastball barreling at locomotive speed earned him his nickname and reputation as a premier power pitcher. Johnson led the Nationals to the World Series twice. He was among the first five players inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936.
