Jesse Owens' incomparable achievements as an Ohio State and Olympic athlete are legendary. He carried the name of this university and this country to world acclaim.
He personified the sportsmanship ideal. He cared for people and challenged them to give their best. As long as athletes complete in sports.
Or people strive for excellence in any undertaking, the life and accomplishments will remain an enduring inspiration.

As a student athlete at the Ohio State University won eight Big Ten and eight NCAA championships in Track and Field. 1935-1936
Set three world records (220 yds., Low Hurdles, Broad Jump) and tied a fourth (100 yds.), all within one hour, during the Big Ten Championships meet 1935.
At the 1935 Olympic Games in Berlin won four Gold Medals - 100m, 200m, Broadjump, 400m relay.
Set eleven World Records in Track and Field events. 1934-1936.
