Towanda in Bradford County, Pennsylvania — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
Cash Homestead
302 Third St.
Prominent Towanda attorney David Cash served as Bradford County District Attorney and Prothonotary. He was interested in the construction of the North Branch Canal and Barclay Railroad. He lived at this home with his wife, the former Mary Ann Spencer, until his death Sept. 18, 1864. He was the son of Capt. Isaac Cash, who was among the first settlers at Tioga Point (now Athens). In 1846 Cash built the earliest Gothic Revival home in Towanda. The large three-story brick structure has three steep Gothic gables at attic level embellished with ornate vergeboards, and a large, double second-story window in a lancet shaped arch above the triple-arched entrance. Trefoil columns support a full porch featuring elongated Tudor arches and a projecting center bay.
