1. Former Site of Smith Schoolhouse Marker
Inscription. Named for Uncle Harve Smith, patriarch of the Smith Family in this community. Built in 1911 on two acres of land bought for $5.00. Seat of learning of readin' 'ritin', and 'rithmetic until 1923 when it was consolidated with others to form Meek School. First teacher was Jesse G. Davis, the last teacher Miss Lollie Young. From the beginning, the schoolhouse also served as a church. Here the children learned the Ten Commandments; and residents of the area have been inspired by good singin', good preachin', praisin’ of the Lord, and the old-time religion.
