1. Buck O'Neil Marker
Inscription. Born November 13, 1911, Florida native Buck O'Neil became batboy for his father's baseball team at age six. In 1938, O'Neil moved to Kansas City to join the Monarchs and played three All-Star games and two World Series games in the Negro American League. He became the Monarch's player/manager in 1948. In 1962, O'Neil made history as the first black major league coach for the Chicago Cubs. Recently, he spearheaded the creation of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City.
