Inscription. American opera singer Samuel Ramey studied music in high school and in college at Kansas State University and Wichita State. After appearing at the New York City Opera, Ramey sang in Europe's great cities, including London, Paris, Vienna and Salzburg. Since his 1984 debut at the Metropolitan Opera, he has built an extensive dramatic repertoire performing in the world's most famous opera houses. Ramey, who resides in Chicago, was voted 1995's Kansan of the Year. He is the most recorded bass-baritone in history.
