Inscription. Stillwell, Kansas resident and lifelong golfer Thomas Sturges Watson was born September 4, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri. As one of the leading professional golfers in the world during the 1970s and 1980s, Watson won two Masters, one U.S. Open and five British Opens. In his career he won more than 40 PGA Tour and international tournaments. He was inducted into the PGA World Golf Hall of Fame in 1988 and into the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame in 1991.
