1. Maison Periard House Marker
Inscription. Maison Periard Émilien Périard et son épouse Cornélie Sauvé quittèrent Vaudreuil avec leurs deux fils Alcide et Émilien en 1911. Ils louèrent un terrain sur la rue Longueuil à L'Orignal avant d'en faire l'achat en 1914 pour se construire une maison. La famille emménagea dans leur nouvelle résidence l'année suivante. Les deux fils quittèrent L'Orignal pour aller travailler à Ottawa et Montréal. Mais au décès de sa mère, en 1921, Émilien revint pour y ouvrir un garage non loin de la maison paternelle sur la rue Longueuil tout en aidant son père, sellier et cordonnier. En 1942, Émilien jr épousa Gabrielle Lamarche : le couple eut six ants. La famille partagea la maison de la rue Longueuil avec le grand-père Périard. De 1915 à 2018, cette résidence demeura dans la famille Périard.

Periard House Émilien Périard and his wife Cornélie Sauvé left Vaudreuil with their two sons Alcide and Émilien in 1911, and settled in L'Orignal. They rented a plot of land on Longueuil Street before purchasing it in 1914 to build a house, at a cost of $5,000. The family moved into their new home in 1915. The two sons left L'Ori- gnal to work in Ottawa and Montreal. When the mother died in 1921, Émilien returned to open a garage not far from his father's house on Longueuil Street, at the same time helping his father who was a saddler

and shoemaker. In 1942, Émilien married Gabrielle Lamarche; the couple had six children. The family shared the house on Longueuil Street with Grandfather Périard, and the home remained in the family until 2018.
