Inscription.
In the year 1870 Hillsboro was the center of population of the United States.

The exact center was located 3/4 of a mile east in front of the Marshall Pike (S.R. 124) in a lane on the Lilley Farm in front of the Dr. Robert D. Lilley Home, a stone to this effect is set into the wall of the residence.
