Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated was founded on November 17th, 1911 on the campus of Howard University by Edgar Amos Love, Oscar J. Cooper, Frank Coleman and their Faculty Advisor, Dr. Ernest Everett Just. The Fraternity motto is “Friendship is Essential to the Soul”. The fraternity's cardinal principles are Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift. The Phi Eta chapter was founded on April 10th, 1976 on the University of Louisville campus by brothers Gary Brown, Stephen Thompson, John Smith, Phillip Williams, Ronald Brown, Willie Lovejoy, John Miles, Averil Royal, Roosevelt Walker III, Rodney Amos, Manuel Brazwell, Howard McMurry and James Stringer.
