Louis Christiaan Vervooren was raadgevend ingenieur voor bedrijven in Amsterdam. In de oorlog was hij betrokken bij de Raad van Verzet, een koepel van verzetsorganisaties. Deze koepel had tot doel om het verzet in Nederland te coφrdineren en te sturen. Vervooren werd op 22 augustus 1942 opgepakt en naar de gevangenis in Scheveningen gebracht. Meer dan 25.000 mensen zaten hier in oorlogstijd opgesloten voor verhoor en berechting, omdat ze iets hadden gedaan dat de Duitse bezetter als overtreding beschouwde. Toen al had de gevangenis de bijnaam het 'Oranjehotel' als ode aan de mensen die er gevangen zaten. Vervooren werd vanaf daar gedeporteerd naar concentratiekamp Natzweiler in Frankrijk en stierf in 1944 in Bruttig, bij Cochem aan de Moezel.
Louis Christiaan Vervooren was a consulting engineer for companies in Amsterdam. During the war he was involved in the Council of Resistance, an umbrella organization of resistance organisations whose purpose was to coordinate and direct the resistance in the Netherlands. Vervooren was arrested on August 22, 1942 and taken to the prison in Scheveningen. More than 25,000 people were locked up here during wartime for interrogation and trial, because they had done something that the German occupier considered an offense. Even then, the prison was nicknamed the 'Orange Hotel' as an ode to the people who were imprisoned there. Vervooren was deported from there to Natzweiler concentration camp in France and died in 1944 in Bruttig, near Cochem on the Moselle.
