Schoenwinkelier Aloijsius Christiaan Naarstig was vijftig jaar oud toen hij op 8 maart 1945 werd ge- fusilleerd als represaille op de (mislukte) aanslag op Hanss Rauter, de hoogste vertegenwoordiger van de SS in Nederland. Naarstig was in de oorlog als reservekapitein zeer actief in het verzet, onder andere bij de illegale Ordedienst. Als lid van de Landelijke Organisatie voor Hulp aan Onderduikers hielp hij Joodse onderduikers en oud-militairen aan bonkaarten, geld, eten en onderdak. Naarstig was ook betrokken bij spionagewerk, spoorwegsabotage, wapenvervoer, het verspreiden van illegale bladen en het onklaar maken van springladingen bij bruggen en dijken. Een van de onderduikers in zijn huis werd tijdens een missie van de Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten in Hoorn aangehouden. Hierop werd Naarstig in februari 1945 gearresteerd en op de dodenlijst geplaatst om bij repressailles gefusilleerd te worden.
Shoestore owner Aloijsius Christiaan Naarstig was fifty years old when he was shot on 8 March 1945 in retaliation for the (failed) attack on Hanss Rauter, the highest representative of the SS in the Netherlands. As a reserve captain, Naarstig was very active in the resistance during the war, including in the illegal Order Service. As a member of the National Organization for Aid to the Underground, he helped Jewish people in hiding and former soldiers with vouchers, money, food and shelter. Naarstig was also involved in espionage work, railway sabotage, arms transport, distributing illegal magazines and disabling explosive charges at bridges and dikes. One of the people in hiding in his house was arrested during a mission of the Interior Forces in Hoorn. After this, Naarstig was arrested in February 1945 and placed on the death list to be shot during reprisals.
