1. Olde Hotel Square Marker
Inscription.
Built before 1880, this building originally faced east towards the railroad tracks. It became the Elizabeth Hotel in 1882 and catered to tourists and railroad crew members. It changed to the Arlington hotel in the early 1900's to include a restaurant on the main floor.

Other businesses in the hotel building have included: a dentist office (who would come from Denver and set up in the hotel lobby,) a boarding house, a pool hall, a restaurant and various offices.

1. History of Elizabeth.
Elizabeth began in 1855 as a saw mill camp operated by the Weber Brothers along the bank of Running Creek. The Town was incorporated on October 10, 1890 and had a population of 300. By 1901, Elizabeth had several businesses offering general merchandise, lumber, creamery products, feed and other services. There were several civic organizations and three churches. The school system had 93 students enrolled.

2. Elizabeth, Colorado.
Elizabeth, initially called Russellville, was originally a saw mill camp. The town was later named after a family member of John Evans, a territorial governor. The town has had a post office since 1882 and was incorporated in October 1890.
