Excerpt: Carlos Lezcano (1870-1929) was a Spanish country painter. He was born in 1870. In the 1890s he contributed to the magazine Los Aportes, directed by Félix de la Torre. He cultivated landscape painting, a genre in which he painted various cities of the Spanish geography. Lezcano, who died in Madrid in April 1929, was also the father of the painter Aurora Lezcano....In the words of Antonio Méndez Casal, "the dry, dusty environment of the decaying towns of broad Castile is the common ground that links almost all of Lezcano's production."(Submitted on August 16, 2022.)
