1. Hendricks Street Marker
Inscription. Hendricks Street was one of the first streets laid out in Wayne when the town was first established in 1842 and may have been first called "Main Street.” In the election of 1884, the people of Wayne supported President Grover Cleveland and Vice President Thomas Hendricks and named two streets in town after them. Hendricks Street has been home to many prominent businesses over the years including Urling's Department Store, the Log Cabin Canteen. the Wayne Theater, Dr. Porter's Office, and the Jewelry Store, which is one of the oldest remaining businesses in town.
