Salomon Vaz Dias, ook wel Sieg genoemd, was journalist en fotograaf, getrouwd en vader van een zoon. Toen de oorlog uitbrak, was hij dienstplichtig korporaal. Hij werd lid van de Ordedienst, dat inlichtingen uitwisselde met de Nederlandse regering in Londen, en was een medewerker van het illegale Parool. Vaz Dias wilde in 1942 via Frankrijk naar Engeland uitwijken, maar werd op het station van Dijon gearresteerd en overgebracht naar het Oranjehotel in Scheveningen. In kamp Haaren was hij een van de ruim honderd Todeskandidaten die de Sicherheitsdienst had geselecteerd uit de gevangen leden van de Ordedienst. Sieg Vaz Dias werd op 39-jarige leeftijd gefusilleerd wegens 'spionage, sabotage en begunstiging van de vijand'.

(English translation:)

Salomon Vaz Dias, also known as Sieg, was a journalist and photographer, married and the father of a son. When the war broke out, he was a conscripted corporal. He became a member of the Ordedienst, which exchanged information with the Dutch government in London, and was an associate of the illegal Parool. In 1942, Vaz Dias wanted to go England via France, but was arrested at the Dijon station and transferred to the Oranjehotel (a prison) in Scheveningen. In Camp Haaren was one of the more than a hundred Todeskandidaten (persons preselected for execution) who the Sicherheitsdienst had selected from the imprisoned members of the Ordedienst. Sieg Vaz Dias was executed at the age of 39 for 'espionage, sabotage and favoring of the enemy'.
