Here on August 22, 1944, Robert Jacques Houbre of the F.F.I., Croix de Guerre, died heroically for the liberation of Paris at the age of 23.

Excerpt (in translation): "Born August 13, 1921 in Nogent-sur-Marne, Robert Houbre joined the FFI in August 1944 at the outbreak of the Parisian uprising. Assigned to the Saint-Michel sub-sector as group leader (South sector, 5th arrondissement), he took part in the battles of Saint-Michel from August 18 to 20, 1944, then in those of rue Claude Bernard on August 21. Mortally wounded on August 21, 1944 at the corner of boulevard Saint-Michel and rue de Vaugirard, Robert Houbre died of his injuries the next day
