1. The Old Stone Tavern Marker
Inscription.
• Built in 1807 by Christian Smith of native sandstone to accommodate travelers going to the frontier.
• Outside changes include door & window positions on the first floor; Evidence for changes visible in stone work above & below windows.
• East side window never existed until building was restored for use as a museum.
• Original wood shake roof replaced 1850-1860 by the current slate roof & the roof line changed somewhat; evidence is visible on the east & west of building.
• The placement & frames of windows on second story are original.
