Inscription.
This structure, with Italianate style, stands proudly as one of South Haven's first residences. Braving the wilderness of the 1850's Uzziah Conger and his wife Wealthy Ann came to this site and erected this home, where they raised seven children. As an early settler Mr. Conger had business in farming lumbering & real estate, and was a merchant for over 35 years. He was a member of the village council for many years, a justice of the Peace, and school trustee. Ellen Conger Avery his oldest daughter, is credited with starting the resort business in South Haven in the 1880's.

The Conger House stands today as an elegant reminder of South Haven's beginning.
