1. Schug Hardware Store Marker

Inscription. Pioneers made their own tools. Later stores like this one began stocking axes, saws, planes, hammers and nails. Eventually the store sold household items like washing machines, sweepers, and lamps. They also sold sleds, red wagons etc. for children.

The Schug Hardware also had a tin shop containing a huge "break” for bending large sheets of tin to make gutters and downspouts. Dr. Clayton Schug whose father began the business in Bellevue in 1913 donated the present building and contents.
