(English translation:)

On the 10th of May, 1942, at this location, Maurice Feferman (alias Fifi) of the F.T.P.(Franc-tireurs et partisans, lit. "snipers and partisans" - a communist resistance group) fell in glory for France under savage attack by Nazi guns, at the age of 21.

Feferman and a co-conspirator, after being followed for months by the special police, were about to be arrested, when they retaliated with gunfire, and although seriously wounded, Feferman was able to escape. On the next day, however, "...the police (helped by passers-by) caught up with him on the rue des Petites-Écuries (10th arrondissement of Paris). Realizing he can't escape them, he swallowed a cyanide pill, shouting "Long live communism!" Long live France! and he shot the last bullet from his 6.35 mm pistol into his head, so as not to give himself up. Transported to the Hôtel-Dieu, he died there the
