Dripping Springs in Hays County, Texas — The American South (West South Central)
First Baptist Church of Dripping Springs
2nd Plaque
Fifty years have passed since the Centennial Marker was dedicated for First Baptist
Church in 1972. In 1978, under the pastorate of Don Duval, a new sanctuary was built
and dedicated in January, 1979. Much of the construction was done by the men of the
church and the Texas Baptist Men.
In 1996, during the pastorate of David Smith, the sanctuary was enlarged and
completely remodeled. Tragedy struck First Baptist Church on Sept. 5, 2007, when fire
destroyed both the historic church built in 1901 during the pastorate of Bro. H.T. Peal,
as well as the newly remodeled sanctuary.
God was not finished with First Baptist Church. For a second time, the church lost their
meeting place through fire. The church met for a while in a local gym before moving
back to the restored fellowship hall. The new, current sanctuary was dedicated on
Sept. 12, 2010, during the pastorate of Craig Curry.
God has blessed First Baptist Church through many trials for a hundred and fifty years.
The desire of this church is to be a Blessing to the Dripping Springs community for
many years to come.
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."
