1850-1862-The "Wire Bridge," a 700 foot suspension bridge was made unserviceable when the cables were cut by Confederate troops on the night of February 18, 1862.
1866-1885-The "New Bridge" was the reconstruction with improvements of the "Wire Bridge."
1886-1965-A four span wrought iron whipple truss bridge which after 79 years of service, was closed August 9, 1965 for the construction of the present bridge.
