President George Washington
Who, on August 4, 1790, signed into Law
the Act establishing the Revenue Cutter Service
Known today as the U. S. Coast Guard.
The First Commission, dated March 21, 1791
Went to Captain Hopley Yeaton of Portsmouth, N.H.
and was signed by President Washington.
