York in York County, Pennsylvania — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
Sheldon Joseph Lloyd
1944 - 2002
Born in York City, a high school drop out, Shel was inspired by the Motor Menders Rod and Custom Club of York to finish high school, which set him on a path to eventually earn a Doctorate in Industrial Technology from the University of Maryland. He served in the Air Force, moved to California where he raised a family, became a professor at Cal State, and worked extensively in the private sector. Shel returned to York to realize his dream of revitalizing this building in the context of York's latest downtown renaissance. Sheldon was keenly knowledgeable, and a spirited believer in his own, and York's, bright future.
