An 1917, un mandat national du gouvernement états-unien décreta la fermeture de Storyville. De cette période, il ne reste aujourd'hui que trois bâtiments : le saloon de Lulu White sur la rue Bassin, le saloon My Place de Frank Early sur Bienville Street et le plus ancien, le saloon de Joe Victor à l'angle des rues St. Louis et N. Villere. Ces constructions du 19e et 20e siècles témoignèrent de la transformation de la communauté qui les entoure. Les sons rythmés du jazz et les exploits vivaces de Storyville cédèrent alors leur place à des pratiques plus placides.
