1. The Midland Theatre Marker
Inscription. The Midland Theatre opened December 20, 1928 and operated for 50 years before a blizzard in 1978 caused substantial damage and the theatre was forced to close. In 1992, after 14 years of dormancy, Dave Longaberger purchased the theatre and began an 8 year, 8.5 million dollar renovation. In 2000, the Longaberger Company gave The Midland Theatre to the Newark Midland Theatre Association, a 501(C)3, nonprofit corporation. The Midland Theatre re-opened on September 14, 2002.
