At this location of the Burse lived and worked Philipp Melanchthon. Born on February 16, 1497 in Bretten, immatriculated at the University of Tuebingen in 1512, master and instructor at the Burse 1514-1518. Here he was a reformer of the school, and later became a reformer of the University and the Church.
