This flag pole is reverently dedicated to the cherished memory of
Airman First Class
William H. Pitsenbarger
Fallen hero of the Vietnam War, he was killed in action April 11,1966 while engaged in heli-copter jungle rescue above and beyond the call of duty giving his life to save others. Posthumously, he was awarded the Air Force Cross, Airmans Medal of Valor, the Purple Heart, the Air Medal (with 9 Oak Leaf Clusters). The South Vietnamese awarded him the Gallantry Cross (with Palm) and the Military Merit Medal. This flag pole shall be a constant reminder of his sacrifice.
