First Christian Church
The Christian Church of Perryopolis was started in 1874-1875 by the itinerant preaching of a Rev. Benedict. Baptism services were conducted in the Youghiogheny River near Layton, and services were held in the public school building until the school board refused the use of the building. This building was dedicated on May 9, 1886.
