1. Couvent des Récollets Marker
Inscription.

the 15th century from a reform of the Franciscan order, were initially called "Minor Friars of the close observance of Saint Francis". In 1604 they obtained permission from Henri IV to settle in a house which was offered to them close to the Saint-Laurent church . The first stone of their convent was laid in 1619. Under the Ancien Régime, their library was very famous. Closed in 1790, the convent was then transformed in 1802 into a hospice for incurables, and then in 1861, into a military hospital. In 1913, it was renamed after Jean-Antoine Villemin (1827-1892), an army doctor and author of research on tuberculosis. The location of this hospital close to the Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est stations meant that it saw much activity during the two world wars, and still even during the operations in Algeria. The obsolescence of its equipment led to its closure in 1968. The convent buildings that remain today date from the 18th century. The facade, chapel and grand staircase are listed.
