Harry Koningsberger
Henri Johan Koningsberger
Blokzijl, 11 februari 1924 - Den Dolder, 5 april 1945
'More than his life, he loved his homeland'. This text is on a Dutch funerary monument in Zeist. The monument was unveiled in 1946 on the spot where Harry Koningsberger and nine others were executed by the occupying forces on 5 April 1945 on the Soestdijkerweg.
Koningsberger helped people who had gone into hiding. He was arrested just before the end of the war. The ransom that his father paid was to no avail. His execution may have been intended as a reprisal for a raid on two SS men a week earlier. The names of the ten executed men are also mentioned on the 'Honor Roll of the Fallen', a national monument in the building of the House of Representatives on the Binnenhof in The Hague. Every day a page of the honor roll is turned.
