in New Albany. Mr. Rasmussen emigrated from Denmark in the late 19th century. In his native country he was an assistant gardener for the Danish King's court. Upon his arrival in New Albany he began a nursery business growing flowers for wholesale and retail both in New Albany and Louisville. Rasmussen Florist opened its doors in 1898.

In 1919 Anders Rasmussen bought the land on which "Woodbine" now sits. Since many records were lost in the 1937 Ohio River flood, no documents can be found from the construction of the house. However, a large stone is installed above the family room fireplace which reads "WOODBINE—1920." According to Anders Rasmussen's niece, Mary B. (Mrs. Joseph) Voyles, "Uncle Andy was his own architect and contractor, and engineer."
