Inscription. Last location of Delaney Academy built about 1857 by A.M. Phelps and others. It remained here until 1867. The object of the school was to train young men for the ministry, but admission was not denied any man or woman seeking a higher education.
 
Erected 1975 by Women's Club of Newburgh, Indiana.
