Inscription.

Following the end of the War of 1812, Colonel Joel Stone turned his business interests over to his son-in-law Charles McDonald and Charles’ brother and partner John. By 1816, the garrison settlement of Gananoque was an established and flourishing community. The first schoolhouse was built that same year, heralding a bright and prosperous future.

—————————————————————————
